The Board of the Pension Protection Fund has announced changes to the way they will calculate levies for 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11. Whilst the total amount they wish to collect for 2008/09 is £675m which is the same as the target for 2007/08, the method of calculation has changed and some schemes could face substantial increases. Scheme sponsors should examine the potential impact for them and consider taking action to mitigate any increases.
