'Scheme Funding and Governance in Turbulent Times' breakfast seminar

Tuesday 24 March 2009
Piccadilly, London
8:30-10:30am

Our seminar for Trustees covered the issues of scheme funding and governance in the current economic climate. Results of our Scheme Funding Valuation survey were presented and discussed.

This event addressed these issues and more. In particular, we:

  • shared the key findings of our research and assessed what the main lessons to be drawn from the first valuation in preparing for the next were;
  • looked at how trustees should go about setting and agreeing their assumptions in the current financial climate;
  • addressed the messages being given by the Pensions Regulator and others about how trustees should approach their funding negotiations in the current climate;
  • explained what effective governance involves; and
  • looked at some of the key actions that trustees should be taking to implement a strategy for meaningful governance.
