Emily Adams of Punter Southall wins J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge for the second year in a row
Emily Adams of Punter Southall retained her title of Women's Champion at the 2009 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in Battersea Park, running two seconds faster than in 2008. This is the second year in a row that Emily, a Trainee Actuary at Punter Southall, has won the race. Emily also came eighth in a recent UK national 5K race and yesterday won the fifth annual Standard Chartered Great City Run with a 17:46 time.
Joining 33 Punter Southall colleagues on the Corporate Challenge starting line, Emily logged a 19:50 time, beating out competition from Joanne Ronaldson of Arup (20:13) and Azmera Gebrezgi of Kinetic Partners (20:15).
Commenting on her reasons for running the race, Emily said that a sense of camaraderie differentiated J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge from other corporate races. Determined to defend her title, Emily trained 60 miles per week in preparation for the race.
Emily said:
“I think the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge is such a great event and I was really hoping to win again this year. My strategy was definitely to keep ahead for the whole race. As well as the run, I also find the event loads of fun.”
The Corporate Challenge drew a total of 25,196 entrants from 623 companies. London, Johannesburg, Singapore, New York, Frankfurt and Boston all hosted capacity events in the 2009 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series.
